Gavin Hicks is the training officer at Radio Firebird and has compiled a 6 week training course. This can be viewed below.   

* Show the new member around the studio
* Health & Safety on the equiptment, and the procedures in the unlikely event of a fire
* Tour of the hospital, including shop, canteen, toilets etc
* Go through the presenter guidelines and constitution



* Become familiar with the mixer and go through each fader
* Start up CD Players and play a CD
* Mix one song into another
* Operate the Mini disc players, playing a jingle in between the songs
* Turn off all equiptment and to overcome any problems of locking both doors



* Operating the cassette players and cueing up a song
* Mix a song (cd player), jingle and another song (cassette)
* Using the microphones
* Doing the news on the hour
* Writing a weather report
* Think up features for their show



* Announce the weather and whom they are
* How to programme jingles on the MD player
* Quick 10 minute mixing, with songs and jingles
* Read out the days events
* Think up features for their show



* Go through the weaknesses and overcome any problems



* 45 minute demo tape

As you can see the 6 week training course may only be 2 or 3 weeks depending on your abilities. If there are any problems, no need to worry as your mentor will go back through anything which you don't understand!
